影片讲述一个在纽约丢了男友(史蒂文斯饰)失了工作的女人(海瑟薇饰)，回到老家后，无意间发现自己和某种怪兽有着诡异的联系。。老岳下岗了。他在街道和居委会的帮助下承包了一家宾馆，还特意请了一同下岗的工友小青和老蔡来帮忙打理。老蔡在食堂干过，就负责厨房。小青因为年轻为人热情又机灵，主管接待。宾馆重张，立马就有了客人，有老岳的孙了小岳，大款钱老板和太太，还有警察大李，窃贼大黑、小黑兄弟。宾馆里的客人多了，事情也多了起来，发生了一系列惊险的、离奇的、令人哭笑不得的事情，让老岳忙得不亦乐乎。。Sean (O'Dowd) is the imaginary friend of 10-year-old Martin Moone, the youngest child of a family living in a small town in Ireland.
