九○年代，東南亞少女懷抱憧憬，遠嫁到這座富足之島… 第一段故事：關於來自越南的文慧，她與建築工丈夫、婆婆，同住在島上荒郊，三人對「家」各有期待；怎料屋內瀰漫不安，災禍更環伺家外、侵襲他們的生活，也迫使文慧幸福幻滅、飄泊於異鄉，苦盼著千禧年降臨。第二段故事：島上進入新時代，某位神祕越南女子現身都會，她是一名徵信探員，邊出任務抓姦，邊為實現理想，探究起文慧及這座島嶼的經歷，但她的追尋旅途中，竟接連遇見那些…似曾出現於往日的人事物境。 本片藉由兩段敘事，對照台灣社會的今昔，看新移民女性在異鄉不同時代下，能否重拾自我、掙脫困境？能否與在地人一起，活出真正的自由？。When Joni was 14, her best friend Gracie Darling disappeared during a séance.
