This car, although ugly, "a cross between a canoe and a wheelbarrow", as the malicious people called it, had incredible capabilities: with a Ferrari 410 engine, it could run at a speed of 28...。一幢两层小楼里住着身份各异的六户人家，大家都在生活的重压下挣扎。为了给儿子凑赌金，二房东不得不逼着大家交房租。袁瑞三被丝厂停了职，为证明自己还在上班天天坐茶馆。因为借债，瑞三逼太太当掉了心爱的首饰，却又好心借钱给邻居看病。好事积德，袁太太中了航空大奖，丝厂重新开业，袁家夫妇陡然成为富人，却再也洒脱不起来，对邻居们的困难视而不见，钱也存进了钱庄。不想钱庄经理卷款而逃，夫妇俩又成穷光蛋……。
