全片由《麻雀趣事》、《有口难言》、《圆谎记》三个独立故事构成：《麻雀趣事》通过上海顾客与广东伙计对话，探讨麻将牌的历史起源；《有口难言》聚焦民国初年女牙医与助手离奇死亡案件，受害者口中发现半截舌头；《圆谎记》描写元朗乡绅马大哈在英女皇访港期间因谎言陷入困境。。The story begins in today Istanbul, when a woman called Işık (Bade İşçil) arrives at an old house. There she recalls the past and friends of her youth.
