The poet Dante is lost in a dark and gloomy wood. At the summit of a mountain he sees the light of salvation. He endeavors to ascend to it, but his way is barred by three wild beasts, symbolizing Avarice, Pride and Lust. Beatrice sees his predicament and descends from Paradise into Limbo, where she asks the poet Virgil to rescue and guide Dante. Virgil knows another way to go, ...。孤儿海蒂（Shirley Temple 秀兰•邓波 饰）和黛特阿姨（Mady Christians 饰）生活在一起，然而黛特不愿继续在照顾外甥女，于是千里迢迢将海蒂送到偏远的善终——海蒂爷爷（Jean Hersholt 饰）的隐居之处。因失去儿子而沉浸悲伤之中爷爷阿道夫起初无视这个从未见过面的孙女，但随着时间推移，祖孙俩的感情日益加深。 但是贪婪的黛特再次返回，骗走海蒂欲将其卖给他人作女佣。天使般的海蒂和主人家的失明女儿安娜（Helen Westley 饰）培养出亲密的友情；另一方面，阿道夫也踏上寻找孙女的旅程……。这是周润发早期比较出名的英雄片之一。故事讲述的是担任保安的神枪手高飞为人侠义、一身正气，他的好友沈四欠下一身高利贷，被放高利贷的人抓走了，幸好高飞深入虎穴将沈四救出。沈四为了还债，央求高飞跟他一起合作协助贼人抢劫一批私运的军火，无奈下高飞答应了。整个计划进行得十分顺利，但就在得手后，高飞被贼人出卖，车子冲进了民居造成了一家人除了5岁的幼女全部罹难。为了弥补自己的错失，高飞决定向贼人抢回赃款补偿幼女。。
