30多年前，湖南娄底有一群中青年农民为了生活，挑着被盖、凉席和简单的日常用品、乘火车、搭汽车，然后长途步行跋涉，来到了湘赣交界的罗宵山脉，这里是茫茫无边的林海，他们用最原始的方式在这里砍树、拖木、放木排。小叶也是这个“盲流”中的一员，当年他才18岁，中学毕业就跟随着这批大叔大哥来到这深山老林中“讨生活”。 这里远离人群，与世隔绝；这里没有尊卑长幼，没有女人，更没有爱情。白天干活，晚上赌钱，周而复始，枯燥得就像山溪边的水车吱吱呀呀，从不变调。 后来来了两个女人，一个是做饭的，一个是量方的。这两个人的到来像油锅里倒进一瓢凉水顿时炸开了锅。从此，他们的生活波澜起伏，杂色斑烂，他们的行为真率，荒唐、怪诞，令人啼笑皆非。扭曲的人性暴露无遗，真诚、善良和同情在人性的释放中充分地彰显出来。 美丽和善良，真诚和同情，战胜一切，他们的生存逐渐充满阳光。。Women are disappearing without a trace in Rajasthan and nobody seems surprised.
